NEWS FROMCPA MEMBERS: 5 R&WBPMS Ltd has invested over £450,000 in a fleet of newKATO mini excavators. The new order comprises six KATO 27V4mini excavators (2.7 tonnes) and six KATO 55V4mini excavators (5.5 tonnes). It forms part of the company’s upgrading programme for the entire fleet. When selecting the machines, R&WBPMS Ltd worked closely with the company’s largest customers to ensure the most suitable safety features and specifications. The machines are primarily used for work carried out on behalf of Highways England, and as such, they complete most of the work during the night. The obvious dangers when working at night are lack of visibility and blind spots in the dark. All the new KATOmachines have been fitted with super bright LED work lighting emitting over 17,500 lumens each. The KATO mini excavators have a five year warranty as standard and other features include green seat belt beacons, bladed buckets, hydraulic quick hitches, LED amber beacons, hands-free Bluetooth radios, demolition grade ram guards, red and yellow rear chevrons and high visibility steps and hand rails. £450,000 Investment for R&WBPMS Launch of Refurbishment Centre for Specialist Vehicles Go Plant Fleet Services has opened a refurbishment centre in Matlock, Derbyshire for specialist commercial vehicles. The service will include the modification, refurbishment and repair of refuse trucks, recycling vehicles and cage tippers for third party customers and is a first for the company, which will also use the premises as an operations and maintenance hub for its fast-growing spot hire division. Phil Quelch, Fleet Engineering Director at Go Plant Fleet Services, said: “The opening of this refurbishment centre is an exciting development for us and complements the rest of our fleet services business. It’s something we’ve wanted to do for some time and the acquisition of a centrally-located depot delivered the perfect opportunity. “Assets such as refuse collection and recycling vehicles are a huge investment and operators are naturally keen to get as much out of them as they can. Professional refurbishment can significantly extend the life of a vehicle, but there are very few businesses providing that kind of service for the specialist sector. We’re a company with a vast depth of knowledge and experience in this sector so we have the expertise, the tools and equipment to offer a credible, cost-effective alternative to the manufacturers,” he continued. Phil believes demand for the service will be strong and says the pilot project could soon be rolled out to more of the company’s 39 depots across the UK. Go Plant Fleet Services, which has headquarters in Leicestershire, operates a 4,700-strong fleet of operated and self-drive vehicles alongside a comprehensive suite of fleet management services. Starting 2019 with a ‘Boom!’ Sheffield-based working at height training and equipment hire company Eagle Platforms has invested £1 million in a new fleet of Haulotte HA32 RTJ Pro diesel articulating booms. With an impressive horizontal outreach of 21.6m, the Haulotte HA32 RTJ Pro Boom has four wheel drive and steer and oscillating axles, making it capable of traversing the roughest of terrain. One of its major advantages is the speed with which the boom can be set up. It takes just 95 seconds to reach its full height, thanks to fully proportional controls and simultaneous boom functions. The HA32 RTJ Pro Boom also benefits from on- board diagnostics that are easy to interpret and make for swift diagnosis and repair in the rare instance of a breakdown. 34 CPA Bulletin > February 2019 www.cpa.uk.net
