CPA Bulletin
FROM THE CEO FROM THE CEO www.cpa.uk.net CPA Bulletin > February 2019 7 We have two new members of staff at CPA. Chris Cassley started recently as Policy Manager. This is a new post: Chris is responsible for assessing government and industry policies and changes to the business environment, and planning and implementing our responses. You can read more about Chris’ appointment on page 9. Jenny Lupton started with us in early January as Administrator: part of Lisa Godwin’s team, Jenny will be looking after membership administration, and providing a first point of contact to Members. I welcome Chris and Jenny to the team, and I’m looking forward to working with them. CPCS Change in Ownership: Business as Usual Following CITB’s announcement about divesting CPCS, CPA Council has been considering what the change of ownership means for CPA Members. The scheme is an important part of many Members’ businesses. We want to make sure that the investment you have made in training and competence is protected. I have therefore offered our support to NOCN, the new owners of the scheme, to help achieve a successful and smooth transition for the scheme from the public sector into the third sector. Within the CPA team and amongst our Members there is a considerable body of expertise and experience, and I will be talking with NOCN about how access to that could help them establish the scheme in its new home. We want card-holders and their employers to be able to see that it is very much “business as usual” at CPCS. In the longer term, we are looking at what arrangements and structures the sector should have in place to give employers access to the right workforce for the future, and to make available economic and efficient measures for management of risk.
