Email or call us - I’m on 07817 688913 or kevin.minton @ cpa.uk.net . You can find all of our contact details on page 43. Our first ‘trip out’ this year will be to exhibit at the Executive Hire Show on 9th - 10th February at the Coventry Building Society Arena (formerly the ‘Ricoh Arena’): you are welcome to call in to the stand to meet the team. We are on stand H20. We are also planning to attend ScotPlant on Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd April at the Royal Highland Centre in Edinburgh. CPA Stars of the Future Awards 2022 2022 marks a landmark year for CPA Stars of the Future as it is the tenth year of the apprentice and trainee awards programme. I invite all companies with construction plant apprentices and trainees to nominate outstanding candidates for the awards: you can read more about this on page 8. Apprenticeships Thanks to commitment from employers in the sector, and after much patient work by CPA Members and colleagues, the figures for construction plant apprenticeships are looking strong and validating the investment of time and ambitions of the various working groups. There are now well over 200 Plant Operative and 65 Hire Controller registrations (at end of 2021) - both figures are 50% up on the original expectations. Plant Mechanic and Lifting Technician apprentices numbers continue to increase, interest is growing in devising an apprenticeship for Plant Installers, and the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE) has recently given the go-ahead for development of the Construction Plant Level 3 Technician occupation. It is universally acknowledged that more young people are wanted in the sector, and CPA is ready to continue supporting the development of apprenticeships and their delivery. You can read more about this on page 30. CPA Conference Following the very successful event in October 2021, I am pleased to let you know that the CPA Conference 2022 will take place on Thursday 20th October, at the Heart of England Conference Centre, near Coventry. The 2021 event saw leading figures from the plant-hire industry and stakeholders from across construction and government discuss two key issues impacting the plant-hire industry: the race to net zero and digitalisation. Further details on this year’s topic will be announced shortly. Available to Support You The CPA Conference 2021 discussed the race to net zero and digitalisation. This year’s CPA Conference will be held on Thursday 20th October 2022
