There has been particular demand for solar products, with eco-conscious businesses setting ambitious net-zero targets and sustainable development goals. The MHM Eco division experienced over 150% increase in Street-Lite sales in 2022 alone. The low emissions Street-Lite is one of its most popular products, and will save 100% of CO2 emissions compared with standard diesel lighting towers. MHM Eco, which has tripled its sustainable fleet over the last year, notes that the demand has increased due to multiple economic factors, including the red diesel ban in April 2022, along with businesses having a higher environmental corporate social responsibility. Companies are more focused on ‘green’ issues such as energy use, waste management and emissions now than ever before. MHM Sales Director Brad Ireland said: “The UK’s energy crisis being discussed on a public stage like COP27 will no doubt accelerate the demand for greener fuels and solar power. We had already experienced higher than usual enquiries at the start of the year due to the red diesel ban, but now the rising energy costs and environmental issues currently in the news are having a big impact on sales. “As the technology in the solar power industry advances, so will MHM. We plan to invest heavily in other renewables, such as solar and battery hybrid machines, as part of our comprehensive approach to a sustainable future and to being carbon neutral by 2030.” NEWS FROMCPA MEMBERS: 2 Weaver Plant Hire, a start-up business only four years ago, is continuing to go from strength-to-strength in the plant hire market thanks to its investment in the latest machinery and technology solutions. Starting with the purchase of a second-hand Kubota mini-excavator, the Buckinghamshire-based company has now expanded its machinery fleet to 60 machines thanks to the recent purchase of eight Kubota excavators from Boss Plant Sales, meaning the Japanese manufacturer now makes up more than 30 percent of the hire firm’s excavator inventory. Adam Weaver, co-owner of Weaver Plant Hire, said: “The demand for construction equipment that can meet the requirements of the toughest jobs continues to be in high demand, so it’s imperative that we utilise equipment that offers contractors reliability and the highest levels of performance. We have worked tirelessly over the past four years to build a reputation of providing quality and efficient machinery, and the relationship we have with Boss Plant Sales and Kubota, and the service and aftersales support they provide, has been pivotal to that.” Established in 2018 by Adam Weaver, Weaver Plant Hire provides operated and self-drive plant hire, and groundworks and landscaping contracting to a wide range of customers in London, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, and Buckinghamshire. Adam was quick to adopt the use of specialised attachments and GPS systems across his machinery fleet to ensure high productivity, safety, and a high-quality finish to all jobs.
