However he clarified that CPA would help facilitate for further discussions, the shape, constitution and function of an SRO for plant-related operations. Each meeting concluded by informing delegates that topics raised will further be taken the CPA’s TOPIC group to industry as part of their wider focus on the skills agenda and that CPA would work with all stakeholders to ensure card scheme engagement with the whole of industry. Following the meetings, the organiser Peter Brown commented: “It was pleasing that we had a wide ranging representation at each meeting and that all topics and questions raised were openly and constructively discussed, and we thank all delegates for providing their input and time for attending each meeting.” Kevin Minton added: “These regional roadshows form part of our work looking at what longer term arrangements and structures the sector should have in place to give employers access to the right workforce for the future, and economic and efficient risk management measures. “They prompted interesting debate all around the country and we look forward to helping facilitate the process of forming an industry-led SRO, seeking input from other parties, including training providers, clients, manufacturers, card schemes, standard setting bodies, plant hirers and owners, safety authorities such as the HSE, awarding organisations and federations,” he continued.
