NEWS FROMCPA MEMBERS: 2 MHM Plant has commissioned one of its super silent 20kVA diesel generators to be livered in the colours of Cardiff-based Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity. The generator has been added to MHM’s rehire fleet and for every hire of this generator 100% of the profits will be donated to the Noah’s Ark Charity. MHM anticipate that as much as £800 could be raised annually. The Noah’s Ark Charity raises money to fund vital medical equipment, facilities and services at Wales’ only children’s hospital. Rob Pullen MHM’s Operations Director said: “We have our head office in South Wales and consequently this cause is very close to our hearts. Obviously the money is important and we hope to raise as much as we can, but as the generator is in the distinctive Noah’s Ark colours we hope that this will have a positive effect on the profile of the charity. We supply equipment throughout the UK, so we expect that the MHM ‘Noah’s Ark’ generator will be highly visible on sites up and down the country.” MHM Plant’s head office is based in Port Talbot. The company supplies power generation, solar- hybrid-generators, fuel storage, lighting towers, engine drive welders and product related accessories to the UK and Irish rental markets, for both hire and purchase. Charity Pledge fromMHMPlant A14 TeamLights Upwith Sunshine as Standard The Highways England A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon improvement scheme has become the first UK project to switch to temporary lighting powered by sunshine in preference to diesel. The A14 Integrated Delivery Team (IDT), working on behalf of Highways England, is currently the largest user in the country of year-round temporary solar trailer lights. Using temporary solar lighting wherever possible has so far saved the A14 project more than 1,600 tonnes of CO2, contributing significantly to Highways England’s environmental impact goals and supporting its commitment to source all project electricity from 100% renewable sources. A total of 44 Prolectric ProLight solar lighting towers have now been deployed at the three compounds along the construction route between Cambridge and Huntington, illuminating site operations and helping to protect worker safety, saving 610,000 litres of diesel, and £158,000 of fuel and manpower costs over the course of the project. Highways England Project Director David Bray said: “The use of Prolectric solar powered lights on the project is an excellent innovative approach by the A14 Integrated delivery team. The use of renewable power sources on the A14 scheme helps us to work in greater harmony with the environment.” 46 CPA Bulletin > May 2019 www.cpa.uk.net inspHire Appoints Sales Director inspHire has appointed Martin Bestwick as Sales Director.
