NEWS FROMCPA MEMBERS: 7 Putting Safety at the Top of the Agenda In order to enhance safety and meet client requirements to access ever increasingly difficult locations, Technic Concrete Floors has invested in mobile concrete pumps incorporating high tech computer systems. The ASC (Advanced Stability Control) system is an active stability control that seamlessly checks the stability of the pump when the outriggers are not completely opened. The system can safely stop the boommovements made by the operator’s transmitter before it can endanger the stability of the machine. It makes shortrigging practice and working with a concrete pump with the outriggers not fully opened safe. The ASC forms part of the Smartronic advanced truck pump management system. KlemmMachine Un-Restricts Access J. Murphy & Sons has completed an element of works on the LOCROSWest Project for Transport for London. Due to the restrictive nature of the site, Murphy’s Ground Engineering purchased the KlemmKR709-3G fromSkelair International. As part of the scheme, Murphy’s Ground Engineering was contracted to provide step-free access at Iver Station, install lifts, complete power upgrades, over bridges and a new ticket office. The programme of work saw the installation of 26 piles at a depth of 13.5m and a diameter of 450mm, in an area of restricted access which represents potential health and safety risks on site. Known for its ability to adapt to restricted access sites and to be controlled remotely, the Klemm KR709-3G was the ideal solution for overcoming these challenges. The works were being conducted in what was still a ‘live’ station, so protection of the public, workers and railway assets was of paramount importance. The KlemmKR709- 3G’s remote-controlled movements allowed for minute adjustments of the components and positioning of the rig in the best possible location.
