Moving to a future-proof, modern rental management package, SGB Hire has been able to secure its future with a solution that it can trust and grow alongside, well into the future. The main goal for SGB Hire was to unify its many depots rather than all working in silos, and in many cases, competing against each other. With one central management system, SGB has been able to work collectively across the entire company, doing business more effectively and saving time along the way. Philip le Claire, General Manager at SGB Hire, explains: “MCS-rm has transformed our business by giving us a greater degree of transparency across our SGB Channel Island shops. As a result, we now have a standardised pricing structure and have improved asset visibility across the business, meaning we are no longer quoting against our other depots. Our corporate branding has also improved significantly. Previously, each shop had its own set of document templates. Now, there is a universal set of templates which every shop uses ensuring consistency is maintained across our brand.” Asset management and visibility were also key topics of concern for SGB Hire due to their staggered deliveries and collections, paper- based documents, and having no clear diary to keep track of its equipment. The plant and event hirer had struggled to know exactly where its equipment was, which meant that stock was lost easily resulting in a cost to the business. Philip continues: “The split deliveries feature available within MCS-rm has been a dream come true for SGB. This is because we can now accurately record exactly which assets have been dispatched, when equipment has been returned, and which ones are still on-site at any given time. It has enabled employees to be more self-sufficient by knowing exactly where an asset is at any time and when it is expected back in stock. This increased visibility means we can utilise our assets far better and provide greater customer service to our clients.” Finally, SGB was also keen on making smarter, more informed business decisions in the future. Its previous software solution had held the business back, so the company recognised that choosing a future-proof solution that would instead accelerate and support its growth, would be key to its success. Philip concludes: “The data analysis we can achieve with MCS Rental Software has had a truly positive impact on the business. It has enabled us to become more market savvy as we can now make business-critical decisions based on the data returned. We are now able to look at how profitable our different assets are across the company, enabling us to invest more in the higher-earning assets to provide exactly what our customers want rather than guessing. This brings with it a significant financial saving and will help the business to grow.” Nick Thomson, Sales Director at MCS, added: “Supporting SGB Hire to reach and exceed its goals is a priority for us at MCS. SGB has embraced digital solutions and truly welcomed MCS-rm into its business. We look forward to carrying on working with the SGB team to continue using new technologies to increase efficiencies and make more informed decisions with powerful data to hand.”
