CPA Bulletin

www.cpa.uk.net CPA Bulletin > May 2022 5 FROM THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE FROM THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE Red Diesel, HVO, Alternative Power It is now over one month since the construction industry lost the right to use red diesel. The challenges this brought included increased costs, dealing with customers who were not prepared for the change, and increased risk of theft. We continue to monitor how the new regulations are working on a practical basis and will report back to Treasury, HMRC and the Home Office. We are working with the Construction Leadership Council (CLC) to make an early assessment of the increase in usage of HVO or other low-GHG drop-in fuels; and the extent to which alternative power sources (for example plug-in or battery-electric) are displacing diesel fuel. If you have any experience of this in your fleet, and are willing to share metrics with us, please contact: Chris Cassley (chris.cassley@cpa.uk.net ) or me. Trade Shows It was good to meet Members at the Executive Hire Show in February, and we certainly benefitted from the chance to hear your concerns - mainly about red diesel - first hand. As this edition of the CPA Bulletin went to press, the CPA team were also at ScotPlant. We will be exhibiting at Vertikal Days on 11-12 May in Peterborough, at Hillhead on 21-23 June, and at Rail Live on 22-23 June. All Members (and non-members) are welcome to call in to our stands. Hope for return of stability I hope you, your families and colleagues remain well. The war in Ukraine has been impacting all our business and personal lives, but these impacts are nothing compared to the suffering and losses experienced by the Ukrainian people. We all hope the conflict ends soon, that peace returns to the Ukraine, and economic stability returns for the UK economy.
