Plantworx is inviting pupils, students, and graduates from all colleges offering courses within the sector to attend its event. The show also welcomes nominees and winners of the CPA’s Stars of the Future Awards to come and experience the show. Young people visiting Plantworx will gain a better understanding of the UK construction industry, as well as the plant equipment and technologies used in these industries. They will also learn about how the equipment on display helps to build infrastructure around the country. In addition to the plant equipment, representatives from HS2 and National Highways will be in attendance with their recruitment teams. Also, Flannery Plant Hire is bringing its mobile skills hub, complete with machine simulator and careers advisers. This is particularly relevant given the current skill shortage in the construction industry. Parents, grandparents, and guardians are also welcome to bring their children along to experience a working construction show first-hand. The show offers a unique opportunity for young people to explore career options in construction and rail, and to see the industry in action. Dale Hawkins , Director of Awesome Earthmovers , emphasizes the fairness and accuracy of the competition: “The trials have been designed to be 100% accurate and 100% fair, with each registered operator being supplied with their own timecard and invited to complete all challenges.” Upon completion of each challenge, the time is officially recorded. At the end of the show, the operator with the fastest combined time, including penalties, will be crowned the winner. Prizes include goodie bags and trophies for the top five runners-up, while the grand prize winner will enjoy a holiday for two valued at £3,000. But the Operator Challenge is more than just a competition. Hawkins explains that it’s also a fantastic opportunity for networking and camaraderie. “It’s not just a challenge but a great place to meet up with fellow operators and industry celebs at the catering tent over a coffee,” he says. Located right next to the Get Connected Zone, visitors can take a break from the excitement to watch the latest technology-equipped machinery demonstrations in action. In addition to showcasing the future of the construction site, Plantworx 2023 will also highlight the key challenges facing small and medium-sized construction sector companies in the areas of immersive technologies and data. The event will provide an excellent opportunity for attendees to learn about new technologies and the ways they can benefit their operations. The event has also partnered with National Highways, once again, who is planning to scope out new innovations for highways infrastructure future projects. From June 13th to 15th, 2023 , the East of England Arena and Events Centre in Peterborough will be buzzing with excitement as industry leaders, manufacturers, and enthusiasts come together to showcase the latest equipment, technologies, and techniques in the construction industry.
