www.cpa.uk.net CPA Bulletin > August 2021 21 PLANT THEFT: 2 Reported Thefts and Frauds On 13th April, CPS Plant Hire had a Mecalec 1-tonne Hi-Tip Dumper , and a Kubota U10-3 Excavator stolen in Castleford. On 4th May, Bullen Plant had a ZX135US-6 Hitachi Excavator stolen in Birkenhead. On 6th May, RGW Plant had a 6-tonne forward tipping Thwaites Dumper stolen in Llanfoist, near Abergavenny. On 26th May, Pod-Trak had a Clamshell and Rotator stolen near Long Buckby Station, Northampton. On 8th June, Proteus Equipment had a large hot-box stolen in the Liverpool area. On 16th June, two welfare units belonging to Nixon Hire were reported as stolen. One was delivered to the customer’s site in Liverpool. The fleet number is 76432 , and the serial number is SA9WE180H12246058 . The second is a 12ft mobile welfare cabin (fleet no. 82029 , serial no. 801416 3) which is green in colour. It is believed to be located somewhere in the Midlands. CITS Webinar - HS2/JCB A CITS webinar was held on 16th June 2021, where Richard Jordan, Chief Security and Resilience Officer of HS2 and James O’Meara General Manager of JCB’s Livelink both gave a presentation. Richard’s presentation focused on the complexities of developing and securing one of Europe’s largest construction projects. He outlined ‘Operation Rocket’ - a data-driven initiative which suppliers to HS2 can contribute to. James’ presentation highlighted how Livelink has developed in protecting the plant, and officially launched two new products. One was based on the ‘3-word’ finding app, which will be used to locate missing plant and equipment within 3 metres. The other is two new independent battery transponders, each with different battery life, which can also fit into non-machinery items, such as welfare units.
