32 CPA Bulletin > August 2019 www.cpa.uk.net PLANT THEFT BY REGION PLANT THEFT: 1 ESSEX At 22:00 on 9thMay 2019, a 60kVA road towable generator was stolen froma depot in Chelmsford, Essex. A white Transit drop sided vehicle (Reg: CP19 JVD) was used by three men to ram through two heavy duty metal gates, and then tow away the generator. The details are as follows: Make: Bruno GX72F Serial Number: 22426-3 Engine serial number: 789135 Year of manufacturer: 2013 Generator fleet number: GEN60-25 Trailer fleet number: TR03 Trailer serial number: SCKD00000D5098118 GREATERMANCHESTER A Dust Guard Commando Misting Cannon was stolen overnight (9th/10th May) from a site in Etherstone Street, Leigh, Greater Manchester. It was brand new and a very distinctive bright yellow. It had the fleet number 5355. The Hatz diesel engine has a metal plate and carries the serial number 1101918079077; the trailer carries the serial number SEWSA250PKBS01196. The trailer is equipped with a 1100 litre yellow tank, 200 bar high pressure pump, rear mounted hose reel, jet wash lance and a distinctive mast at the rear. HERTFORDSHIRE A Thwaites 1 tonne hi tip dumper was stolen on 13th June from Rickmansworth Road, Watford WD18 7JT. Serial number: SLCM021Z1215C3011, Year: 2012. KENT We have become aware of a number of fraudulent hires carried out under the name of ‘Bartek The Builder’ in the South East, more particularly Kent. Items taken are primarily smaller mini diggers, and it looks like 5-7 items have already ‘gone missing’. Hire companies have gone to collect the item only to find it has disappeared, and the number provided to call the hirer - 07443 293381 - does not answer. A Lithuanian identification card under the name of Evaldas Balsys was also provided. LONDON On 5th June in Acton, West London, an Atlas Copco SB152 3T Breaker was stolen with serial number BES011294. The following day - 6th June - again in Acton, West London, a further Atlas Copco SB152 3T Breaker was stolen with serial number BES031935. WARWICKSHIRE On 26th May in the Leamington Spa area, the following items of equipment were stolen: Martin Quick Hitch (Serial number 7924) Bomag 60/4 Upright Rammer (Serial number 101540559679) Hilti TE40 AVR SDS Drill (Serial number 101277) Atlas Copco SB152 3T Breaker (Serial number BES036812) FRAUDSTERWARNING Please be aware of a potential fraudster known as Andrew Borg who provides the mobile number 07898 838 319 . He claims to represent the Ferns Group . CITSWORKSHOPS The Combined Industries Theft Solutions (CITS) recently held two workshops on cybercrime (supported by the Metropolitan Police) and labour exploitation (supported by the Gangmaster and Labour Abuse Authority (GLAA). The events were held at Coutts Bank in London. Both events were well attended and gave an insight into the behaviour and methods used by criminals. Those who attended found it very informative. Plans are being drawn up to have similar workshops held elsewhere in the country and further information on these will follow in due course. NATIONAL COMMERCIAL ROBBERY CONFERENCE This was held at JCB in Rocester on 13th June. ATMATTACKS USING PLANT Sarah Staff of SaferCash gave a presentation on thefts and attacks on the bank’s Automated Telling Machines (ATM), through the use of explosives, gas and medium to large construction/agricultural plant.
