Special interest groups SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS British Concrete Pumping Group (BCPG) The next BCPG Steering Committee meeting is proposed to take place in the third quarter of 2019 with the date and venue to be confirmed. Construction Hoist Interest Group (CHIG) The next CHIG Steering Committee and Open Meetings will take place at the Oak Hotel, Hockley Heath, on the 9th and 10th October 2019 respectively. Crane Interest Group (CIG) The last CIG Steering Committee took place at The Heart of England Conference Centre near Coventry on 30th April 2019 with the agenda covering a wide range of topics including: • The CPA Voluntary Roadworthiness Scheme • Technical Information Note (TIN) revisions: • BS 7212 update • Publication of Mobile Cranes Working Alongside Railways • Thorough Examination of Mobile Cranes after Rigging, the effect of wind on large area loads • The use of foam sheets under outrigger pads and ground condition assessment for appointed persons • Strategic Forum Plant Safety Group update • Stars of the Future 2019 update • Trailblazer Apprenticeship update The CIG Open Meeting will take place in September 2019 with the final date and venue to be confirmed. Suction and Vacuum Excavator Special Interest Group (SAVE) The next Suction and Vacuum Excavator Steering Committee meeting is proposed to take place in the third quarter of 2019 with the date and venue to be confirmed. Shoring Technology Interest Group (STIG) The last Shoring Technical and Steering Committee meeting took place at Nuthurst Grange, Hockley Heath, on 10th July 2019. Tower Crane Interest Group (TCIG) The last TCIG Steering Committee meeting took place at Liebherr- Great Britain Ltd, Biggleswade, on 19th June 2019 with the agenda covering a range of topics including: • Recent Safety Issues • HSE Update • Technical Information Note (TIN) revisions and updates: • Publication of TIN051 Thorough Examination of Self-erecting Tower Cranes • Publication of TIN022 The Use of Tag Lines with Tower Cranes • Revision of TIN010 Tower Crane Anti-Collision Systems • Revision of BS 7212-5 • Rescue from Height Working Group update • Hook Block Camera working group update • HSE Alert on Tower Crane Slew Brakes and Release Mechanism maintenance.
