With CITS sole purpose to reduce the effects of crime on both the construction industry and farming communities, the lockdown prompted CITS to review and revamp its own website. Inherent in stopping crime is intelligence gathering from key CITS partners and supporters. The new website therefore aims to help with theft reporting - allowing alerts and news to be circulated to a wider audience. It also helps the industry to immediately be made aware of criminals and the latest methods they are utilising to commit crime. In addition, crime prevention advice is available to read and download in the form of guides, documents, leaflets and videos. The new website can be seen at www.cits.uk.com For further information about CITS and to become a member please contact faye @ cits.uk.com Since the last edition of the Bulletin, the CPA had been contacted by Metropolitan Police on two occasions to help identify the owners of an Atlas generator/compressor and a woodchipper. With the assistance of DC Chris Piggott of NaVCIS (National Vehicle Crime Intelligence Service) and Datatag, we were both instrumental in helping to return the compressor back to the CPAmember, and the owner of thewoodchipper has contactedMetropolitan Police to claim it. Criminals now have an extensive range of methods of presenting well prepared and designed documentation or identification to suggest they are someone else to their real identity. This makes it very difficult for those individuals who have not been specifically trained by their employer to recognise sophisticated fraudulent documents or forms of ID.
