The Plant Charter is a commitment by supporting organisations to reduce their carbon emissions. James Cadman, School Plant Group Lead at Action Sustainability said: “Our aim is that the Supply Chain Sustainability School will lead the way for the UK’s built environment to drastically reduce onsite emissions to air that are harmful to human health and the planet, such that they will reach net zero by 2040 and contribute to UN Sustainable Development Goals 3, 11 and 13. We would like organisations up and down the value chain to collaborate with us in coordinating our efforts to reduce these emissions for everyone’s benefit.” Flannery Plant Hire Managing Director Patrick Flannery added: “As a business, understanding our environmental impacts and managing these is really important. Sustainability and innovation are two of our key value drivers and underpin the decisions we make and ensure we can support clients in the delivery of the cleanest, and most efficient hire solutions for their construction projects. “It is, however, really important that there is a consistent approach throughout the supply chain and the Supply Chain Sustainability School are best placed to facilitate this. I am sure that this Charter will have a great impact and as a business, we wanted to confirm our commitment and support by being the first signatory,” Patrick added. The Plant Group was established by School Partners and other key industry stakeholders to develop and facilitate the implementation of the School’s position on best practice sustainable procurement within the category. This Partner collaboration is helping to identify and provide the supply chain with information and guidance on plant standards and management. Flannery First to Sign Sustainability School’s Plant Charter The 1st June marked the official launch of Sunbelt Rentals in the UK and Ireland. A-Plant’s rebranding as Sunbelt Rentals is the culmination of the company’s strategic review that involved consultation with more than 2000 employees and customers. The Sunbelt Rentals brand is operating across all 195 locations. All 18 of the company’s specialist divisions have been aligned as part of the process to create one single overall identity, whilst retaining the individual specialist activities and expertise. Andy Wright, CEO of Sunbelt Rentals in the UK said: “We’re the largest rental company in the UK and no one matches the solutions we can offer to our customers. We’re making a significant investment in our equipment fleet and business operations as well as continuing our ongoing investment in our people, so that we continue to build fantastic teams of highly engaged employees, who in turn will deliver great service to our customers. “Through our team of empowered, engaged and motivated experts we have a shared mission - to deliver a world class rental experience. We believe that by rebranding the business to Sunbelt Rentals and by bringing together all of our specialist businesses into one joined up group of complementary rental offerings, we are able to create the platform to be able do this.” Sunbelt Rentals has also played a key role in the government’s COVID-19 response plan. Sunbelt provided the equipment needed for 98% of the new Testing Centres built in the UK. The company contributed vital and integral services during the construction of emergency NHS Nightingale hospitals. Andy Wright added: ‘The testing centres were an opportunity to display the power of Sunbelt Rentals in reality. We recognised our place as a critical service provider to the UK, working on a daily basis with the NHS and other government bodies. For the government to hit their 100,000 daily testing targets, they needed the testing centres. We played a huge part in that.” Official Launch of Sunbelt Rentals UK
