Whilst CPA has not received reports of fuel theft, the ACE OPAL police unit has circulated a note regarding significant fuel thefts. The note can be found within the plant theft section in the CPA website at www.cpa.uk.net/legal-insurance-plant-theft/plant-theft/opal-ace Should members wish to report fuel thefts to the CPA when they arise, then this data can be collated and passed on to the police. ACE Opal - Fuel Theft Note On 13th April, GW Tool & Plant Hire had a Kubota 0.8 tonne mini excavator stolen in Yateley, Hampshire. On 19th April, MAP Plant had a Thwaites 9 tonne dumper stolen in Malden, Essex. On the same day Campbell Plant had a Volvo 0.9 tonne mini excavator stolen. On 28th April, Orange Plant had a Timberwolf TW230 woodchipper stolen from the Burton-on-Trent area. On 4th May, National Tracked Dumper Hire had a Yanmar C30-R dumper stolen from the Guildford/Hampshire border. On 12th May, Wildes Plant had a Kubota K008 mini excavator stolen from Dorrington, Shrewsbury. On 13th May, Collins Earthworks had Trimble GPS equipment stolen off a machine in the Northampton Gateway area. On 30th May, Ranns Construction had a Wacker Neuson vibratory plate and an Atlas Copco P3000 generator stolen fromMitcham, Surrey. On 24th June, Newmarket Plant Hire (NPH) was contacted by ‘John’ claiming to work for Tunnelcraft, based in Basildon. He attempted to hire various items of plant. When independently checked with the customer’s office, they were unaware of this person. This person then tried to hire plant from NPH’s Ipswich depot, also without success. The number ‘John’ used was 07424 987158. On 28th June, BRJ Hire Solutions had an Epiroc SB102 hydraulic breaker (serial number BES157541 ) and a hydraulic ram taken from a machine on a site in Corby, Northants. Thefts and Frauds Reported by Members CITS Conference 2022 The Combined Industries Theft Solutions (CITS) is planning to hold a conference in October/ November 2022. The final date and venue are yet to be confirmed. The planned theme for this year is van theft and theft from vans. In addition, there will be a discussion panel on fuel theft.
