www.cpa.uk.net CPA Bulletin > August 2022 27 NEWS FROMCPA MEMBERS: 1 News from CPA Members To submit news for consideration for future issues of the CPA Bulletin, please email lisa @ lisacollinscommunications.co.uk KirstyWalks theWalk To help raise funding and awareness for breast cancer, Kirsty Archbold-Laming, Director of SouthernHoist Services and CPA Council Member, has successfully completed theMoonWalk London - a night-time charity walk organised by breast cancer charity Walk theWalk. 10 years ago Kirsty sadly lost her Mum to secondary breast cancer and this is the sixth time that Kirsty has completed the MoonWalk London in her memory. Walkers can choose to walk a half marathon or a full marathon across the streets of London and Kirsty opted to go the full distance. Walkers were invited to walk the distance in a bra specially decorated in the theme of their hero. Kirsty told us: “What a night! My sixth MoonWalk withmy dear friend Andrea (a first timer). It was definitely a tough challenge both physically andmentally. We were near the front as we set off and kept a great pace for the first 13miles, passing the halfway mark at 3.5 hours, then sleep deprivation and cold started to get to us, by mile 19 we were broken! We battled on cold, tired and aching to reach the finish line at 7.15amSunday morning - what a welcome sight that was! “The theme this year was ‘Your Hero’, I picked Wonder Woman asmy Mumwas wonderful, and I added the blue butterfly tomy outfit in her memory. Met some incredible people, survivors and amazing volunteers, not to mention fire-eaters and bands along the way. I amproud to have raised a few pennies for such a great charity - thank you all for your kind support and generosity, it really does warmmy heart to know that we canmake a difference between us. “I still have legs of jelly and need to sleep for a week, but it was worth it - and yes, I did the ENTIRE walk inmy bra even when we had a couple of rain showers (nomac, hoodie or poncho!).” Kirsty has helped to raise £1,741 so far for Walk theWalk, but you can still make online donations at https://walkthewalk.enthuse. com/pf/archbold-laming-kirsty.
