CPA Bulletin

www.cpa.uk.net CPA Bulletin > November 2020 7 FROM THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE FROM THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE I hope you, your families and colleagues remain well. As I write, all parts of the UK have been placed into various levels of lockdown. We all continue to adjust and adapt, and make sure that plans and calendar entries are written in pencil, rather than ink. One adjustment that did work well was our decision to hold CPA’s Stars of the Future apprentice awards event online - we had over 130 people joining in online, many of whom would not have been able to come to a physical event. We had more entries than ever, and the calibre of those entries was higher than ever. You can read more about this on page 8. I congratulate the winners and wish them every success in their careers. There’s also a special commemorative Stars of the Future brochure included with this issue of the CPA Bulletin. We have reluctantly moved the planned date of our Conference from April to October 2021, but we are holding a series of webinars before then to discuss some key issues. The first subject will be ‘Leaving the EU’ and its impact on our sector, on 19 November - see page 11. I encourage all Members to take part in these webinars - they can provide a very effective way of sharing concerns and information without the burden of travel and time out of the office. Many Members have demonstrated their resilience and professionalism through the pandemic, and have adapted quickly to new working rules. As well as keeping construction and civil engineering on track, Members have contributed to novel demands such as the construction of emergency facilities, including temporary critical care hospitals and NHS testing facilities throughout the UK. This sort of work is a credit to the sector and those who work in it. The CPA team and I remain available to support you. Email or call us - I’m on 07817 688913 or kevin.minton @ cpa.uk.net . You can find all of our contact details on page 34. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Members have helped to construct NHS testing facilities It’s deja vu - all over again
