CPA Bulletin

www.cpa.uk.net CPA Bulletin > November 2021 7 FROM THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE FROM THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE Stars of the Future With this edition of Bulletin you will find a copy of the Stars of the Future commemorative brochure. For the participants, sponsors and employers, this is one of the best and most rewarding events of the year, giving us the chance to recognise some of our brightest and most promising talent. The event took place in September this year, but next year we plan to return to a July date. If you think that you have a potential winner in your company, entries will open in January: you will be able to find details on the CPA website. Conference The CPA conference returned this year as a real live event after a gap last year due to the pandemic. More people attended than ever before, and the quality and breadth of the speakers also exceeded what we have been able to bring to delegates in the past. There is much learning to come from the various discussions at the conference, and we shall be working through the recordings of the panel session to identify priorities for CPA to work on. We are recruiting a Technical Officer to work on net zero carbon issues - see page 18 for more information. Meetings and Webinars We have had some successful ‘hybrid’ meetings, with attendees in the room and others coming in on Zoom. It is evident that these can work well, giving the flexibility that we all need to continue to deal effectively with the continuing uncertainty over travel, and the need for collective and individual risk control. We will also be holding a series of Member update webinars in the new year - please watch out for details of these. The CPA team and I remain available to support you. You can always email me at kevin.minton@cpa.uk.net , and you can find all of our contact details on page 47. Lisa Godwin Celebrates 25 Years’ Service at CPA On 19th August 2021, the CPA’s Membership Manager, Lisa Godwin, celebrated 25 years of service to the CPA after joining the team as an Administration Assistant back in August 1996. At the 81st CPA AGM which was held on 12th October 2021, the President, Chairman and Chief Executive, in special recognition of Lisa’s service to the Association, presented Lisa with a gift and a bouquet of flowers to mark the occasion. After the presentation Lisa said: “I have to say I cannot believe I have worked at CPA for 25 years, it has flown by and in that time I have seen many changes, but I have always been aware what an asset CPA is to the construction and plant hire industry. Being able to interact with the Members over these years has given me much job satisfaction.” Pictured from left to right: CPA Chairman Steven Mulholland, Lisa Godwin and CPA President Brian Jones.
