32 CPA Bulletin > November 2022 www.cpa.uk.net NEWS FROMCPA MEMBERS: 3 GAP Invests in JCB Ride-on Rollers and Expands Pumps Division GAP has placed an order for an initial quantity of 140 JCB Ride- on Rollers. The investment is split equally between 80cm and 120cm models. Ken Stewart, Head of Procurement at GAP, commented: “Ongoing supply issues driven by engine availability has forced us to look for alternative suppliers to maintain continuity of supply to our depot network. We undertook a full technical and commercial evaluation and were delighted with the resulting outcome. We’re pleased to have increased our scope of supply with JCB/Stewart Plant Sales. I believe JCB offers an unrivalled UK dealer support network for after- sales and servicing. “The rollers are designed in Germany, built in India and fitted with Kubota engines which maintains our strong affinity with the Kubota product. Deliveries have now commenced, and we expect the feedback to be positive from both depots and our valued customers.” GAP’s Pump Services division is also expanding with the opening of two new depots in Warrington and Dundee. The company’s pumps division launched 12 months ago and has made an investment of over £20 million in the division over the first year, with more than 500 Stage V pumps, and 150,000 metres of hose. The division now operates from eight depots nationwide, including the new Warrington and Dundee depots, with plans for further expansion. October marked Breast Cancer Awareness Month which is designed to increase awareness of the disease. To honour all those who have suffered at the hands of this cruel disease, and to encourage regular checking, Southern Hoist Services has dedicated one of the company’s items of fleet to the cause. 20% of the hire revenue from the machine - fondly known as ‘Penny the Pink Hoist’ - are donated to Breast Cancer charities in the hope of finding a cure. Kirsty Archbold-Laming, Director of Southern Hoist Services and Chair of the Construction Hoists Interest Group (CHIG), very sadly lost her Mum to Breast Cancer over 10 years ago and is doing a sterling job of raising awareness. In a previous issue of the CPA Bulletin, we reported that Kirsty successfully completed her sixth MoonWalk London in her Mum’s memory. MoonWalk is a night-time charity walk organised by breast cancer charity Walk the Walk. Walkers were invited to walk the distance in a bra specially decorated in the theme of their hero. This year’s theme was ‘Your Hero’ and Kirsty decorated her bra with a Wonder Woman theme to honour her Mum. Kirsty is pictured on the right with Penny the Pink Hoist in her Wonder Woman bra before Penny went out on hire for a long-term hospital project. Penny the Pink Hoist Back in Action
