26 CPA Bulletin > November 2023 www.cpa.uk.net NEWS FROM CPA MEMBERS: 4 Smarter Fuel Tank for Smarter Fuel Management Ardent Hire has launched the company’s new smart fuel tank system, Fuel-IT. By providing complete accountability for fuel dispersals through state-of-the-art fuel monitoring technology, Fuel-IT is saving customers thousands of pounds in fuel costs. The system enables fuel to be dispersed into specified assets which helps to identify irregular or inconsistent usage that could be linked to waste, theft or fraud. Fuel-IT has been developed by Ardent, in collaboration with Western Global and PowTechnology, and has undergone extensive field trials to fine tune the design to meet the demands of end users and their environment. Fuel-IT puts customers in control of fuel levels and usage, from deliveries to dispersals. This not only helps to reduce fuel costs, through carefully monitored usage, but also helps to reduce emissions, as less fuel is wasted. Data from the system can be uploaded to the Cloud where users can apply the next level of fuel analytics. By combining this data with Ardent’s Site Manager platform, users can nowmonitor and manage fuel use more closely than ever before. This is an essential tool in the face of ever-rising fuel costs and new red diesel rule changes. In addition to monitoring fuel use, Fuel-IT can also be set to trigger auto-replenishment, so users never run out. In addition, smart key fob technology can restrict access, so that only authorised personnel can dispense fuel. This is backed by a series of pre-programmable alerts to ensure continued availability and significantly enhance security. Alerts include low and critically low fuel levels, along with disconnection alerts that may indicate illegal movement of the unit. Alerts can also be set for out of hours use, fuel theft and unauthorised fob use. The first Fuel-IT units were delivered in early August, and the results have already been impressive. One site reported a reduction in fuel use of 50%, while another has saved £3000 in fuel losses since they began monitoring fuel use and dispersals more closely. The system can also protect sites from the fraud of under-fuelling. Fuel-IT recently proved one site had only received 460 litres of a 500 litre delivery. MHMGroup’s £4.3m Investment in Solar Lighting MHM Group has made a £4.3 million commitment to solar site lighting. The company has invested in two solar-only lighting models - the ST9 solar-only, 9m towable lighting towers and Solar Street Lite. Customers can anticipate major cost savings with zero fuel expenses and far lower maintenance costs. Mat Llewelyn, Managing Director of MHM Group said: “ I’m immensely proud to align our fleet with sustainable initiatives. By choosing solar-only, diesel-free lighting equipment from the Trime Group, we’re not just making an investment in equipment but in the future of our planet. This step is a testament to our commitment and belief that the industry can - and should - actively pivot towards a zero-carbon landscape for their site lighting requirements.”
