10 CPA Bulletin > November 2024 www.cpa.uk.net ASSOCIATION NEWS: 2 In September the CPA team supported and participated in a number of events. We were proud to be the ‘Future of Energy and Fuels’ sponsor at the Supply Chain Sustainability School Summit in Coventry. We sponsored a one-hour round table session discussing the role of HVO, hydrogen, diesel and alternative fuels - a critical discussion in our sector. We also exhibited at Vertikal Days which was hosted at its new venue - Newark Showground. The CPA had a stand at the show and it gave us the opportunity to meet up with several members. During the event two of the CPA’s Special Interest Groups - the Crane Interest Group (CIG) and the Tower Crane Interest Group (TCIG) - hosted an open meeting which was attended by over 150 people. You can read a full report on page 42. In October we supported two industry events hosted by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) in London - Crane Safety 2024 and Sustainable and Decarbonised Construction 2024. As this issue of the CPA Bulletin was sent to press, the CPA Conference 2024 was hosted at the Heart of England Conference and Events Centre in Fillongley near Coventry. The theme of the Conference was ‘Shaping the Future: Insights for the Plant-hire Sector’ and there were panel sessions on key topics such as innovation, decarbonisation, digitalisation, skills, business growth, succession planning and mental health and wellbeing in the construction sector. With 200 attendees, 20 speakers and 26 exhibitors, the CPA Conference 2024 was our biggest yet. There will be a full Conference report in our next issue of the CPA Bulletin which comes out in February 2025. CPA Conference 2024 Held in association with: CPA Stars of the Future Awards Earlier this year, the Stars of the Future apprentice and trainee awards were hosted to recognise some of the industry’s brightest up-and-coming talent. To celebrate the achievements of the nominees and winners, we have produced a special commemorative brochure which is accompanied with this issue of the CPA Bulletin. It features articles on each of this year’s national winners and we hope you enjoy reading it. In January 2025, nomination forms for the Stars of the Future Awards 2025 will be available on the CPA website at www.cpa.uk.net . The awards ceremony is being hosted once again at the Heart of England Conference and Events Centre near Coventry on Thursday 10th July 2025 . If you have any apprentices or trainees in your business who you think deserve industry recognition, please do consider putting them forward for a Stars of the Future award.
