CPA Bulletin
www.cpa.uk.net CPA Bulletin > November 2024 5 FROM THE PRESIDENT FROM THE PRESIDENT There will be a full Conference report in the next issue of the CPA Bulletin, but I would like to take this opportunity to extend our sincere thanks to everyone involved. Our wonderful co-hosts Merryn Myatt and Peter Haddock, our many panel speakers, our headline sponsor MHM Group, and all our valued exhibitors. The CPA’s recently appointed Chief Executive Officer Steve Mulholland warmly welcomed attendees to the event, and it’s certainly been a busy and very productive few months for Steve in his new role. Another of the CPA’s flagship events is Stars of the Future apprentice and trainee awards. Nomination forms for the 2025 Awards will be on the CPA website in January 2025 and we urge you to nominate apprentices and trainees in your organisation who you think could represent the future of our industry. You’ll see that this issue of the CPA Bulletin is accompanied with a special commemorative Stars of the Future brochure, and it features articles about each of this year’s national winners from the event. On page 9 you can read about an important appointment for the CPA. Luis Bassett has joined the team in the newly created role of Decarbonisation and Sustainability Manager. Luis previously worked for London Borough of Merton for over eight years, and he has a great deal of experience in low emission solutions for the construction plant sector. The recruitment of Luis represents the crucial next step in the development of our Association, as it will help you - our valued members - navigate the transition to net zero. Luis will also liaise closely with other industry stakeholders on future technologies and manage expectations within government and local authorities on the timescales of what is possible in the short to medium term. Finally, on page 2 you will read an appeal from the Plant & Hire Aid Alliance. Please could you take a moment to read the content and if you are able to, consider supporting this very worthy cause. Children are the innocent victims in the war in the Ukraine and the Plant & Hire Aid Alliance are working hard to bring a little joy into children’s lives this Christmas. At the CPA we are delighted to have made a donation of 8 JCB Generators to help the Plant & Hire Aid Alliance fill a container for shipment to Ukraine, to help keep families warm over the winter. Exciting Times at the CPA Welcome to the November issue of the CPA Bulletin. Just as this publication was sent to press, the CPA Conference took place which is one of the Association’s flagship events. We were delighted to meet so many members at the event which was our biggest conference yet.
