He joined his brother, Robin Morris, and a contingent in tackling a route fromHolyhead to Shrewsbury to mark the 150th anniversary of parent company Morris & Company and support its charity of the year. The efforts of the 36-strong group of colleagues and friends generated over £8,000 in sponsorship - with donations still coming in. After taking in dramatic valleys, Welsh coastline and winding country lanes, Chris finished the ride in under 12 hours and, along with Robin and fellow cyclists, was greeted by a welcome party and commemorative medals as they arrived back at Morris’s headquarters in Shrewsbury. Chris said: “I’m an active sportsman but I don’t normally cycle so I trained hard to ensure I was ride-fit! With the distance involved, the terrain and the heat it felt tough at times and we had to dig deep, but there was great support along the way. “The camaraderie and the inspirational cause kept me going on a memorable day. I think it will be a while before I get back on the bike again though!” he added. There are 850,000 people with dementia in the UK, with numbers set to rise to over 1 million by 2025. Murphy ExpandsWith Trime Lighting Towers Murphy Plant is continuing tomake further major investment in lighting towers fromTrime UK Limited. The latest order is for 30 X-ECO LED and 10 X-HYBRID lighting sets as the company renews and upgrades the Murphy Plant lighting hire fleet. Murphy Plant made the decision to invest in more Trime lighting machinery following positive feedback about easy manoeuvrability, fuel efficiency and the fact that the sets are simple to mobilise and demobilise. The X-HYBRID units will be utilised by the Murphy transport business, predominantly on rail projects supported by the company’s depot in the North West. The Murphy transport business will be reviewing the performance of the X-HYBRID and recording client feedback, with a view to increasing X-HYBRID holdings. However, Murphy Plant’s current strategy is to hold a dual fleet of X-ECO LED and X-HYBRID allowing for a degree of flexibility based on specific project requirements. Commenting on this latest fleet investment Mike Carpenter, Managing Director of Murphy Plant said: “As ever, service from Trime has been excellent and the support they provide to us is second-to-none. An example of their support was demonstrated recently. We were reviewing the plant requirements on one of the largest Murphy projects (Triton Knoll, £100mCross Country Cabling project), where we had 10 lighting sets on hire from a supply chain partner. “We made a simple decision to buy new sets and conduct a swap out with Murphy owned fleet. One quick call to Trime and the new sets were on-site within a few days fresh fromMilan. All of them were built to standard Murphy specification and branded in the iconic Murphy green colour. This was a great turnaround from our perspective and we were delighted that Trime was able to make this happen,” he added.
